About the Author

Val Biro was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1921, but moved to London, England, in 1939 to study. He discovered his talent and love of drawing at an early age, cheekily sketching caricatures of teachers during his school days.

He studied illustration at the Central School of Arts and went on to enjoy a distinguished career spanning over 60 years. His illustrations appeared in magazines, advertising, and more than 400 illustrated books, as well as on the covers of many more.

Val Biro was a much-loved author and illustrator of children's books.
