In addition, she has written\nthe books for the musicals \u003ci\u003eThe Great Wall: One Woman’s Journey\u003c\/i\u003e (2017), \u003ci\u003eThe\nAdmiral’s Odyssey\u003c\/i\u003e (2005), the NUS Centennial musical \u003ci\u003eMan of\nLetters\u003c\/i\u003e (2006), and children’s musical \u003ci\u003ePinocchio\u003c\/i\u003e (2010).\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003ci\u003eEverything but the Brain\u003c\/i\u003e and \u003ci\u003eBoom\u003c\/i\u003e (both\npublished by Epigram Books) have been used as O-Level and N-Level literature\ntexts for secondary school students. \u003ci\u003eThe Knot\u003c\/i\u003e was awarded 1st\nprize for Action Theatre’s 10-minute Play Competition 2010 and selected as a\nfinalist for the Actors Theatre of Louisville’s 10-minute Play Contest. Tay has\nbeen nominated four times for Best Original Script for the Life! Theatre Awards,\nand won for \u003ci\u003eEverything But the Brain\u003c\/i\u003e in 2006. Her prose\nfiction has received honours as well: the 1997 Weston Undergraduate Prize for\nFiction for “The Story”, as well as 1st and 3rd prizes for the National Arts\nCouncil’s Golden Point Award in 1995 and 2001, respectively.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eTay graduated in 1997 with a double-degree in creative\nwriting and economics from Brown University, attended the month-long\nInternational Playwriting Residency in 2007 (organised by the Royal Court\nTheatre in London), and participated in LaMama’s International Playwrights’\nRetreat in Umbria, Italy in 2010. She served as resident playwright at the\nSingapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) from 2006–2009, and helmed SRT’s Young\nCompany Writing Programme from 2012–2016. She was also involved in the 2015\nNDP: Majulah Singapura, Singapore’s Golden Jubilee, and the 2017 Home Team Show\nand Festival as scriptwriter.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003e\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003eCurrently, she teaches playwriting as an adjunct lecturer at\nNanyang Technological University, and conducts playwriting masterclasses at the\nVictorian College of the Arts (University of Melbourne) for students in the\nMaster’s of Writing for Performance programme.
